Julius Franklin Kenney IV (CRD# 5500248) has been accused by FINRA of participating in an investment that was outside the scope of his employment at the firm and also not approved by the firm. FINRA began an investigation into Kenney when an LPL Financial customer brought allegations forward.
FINRA has since barred Kenney from the securities industry for failing to provide documents and related information in connection with its investigation into the customer complaint against Kenney.
One of Kenney’s customers filed a complaint in April 2015 alleging that Kenney solicited an investment in a “mellow mushroom business.” The customer complaint claims that the investment Kenney was soliciting was neither approved by nor disclosed to LPL Financial. The customer alleged damages amounting to $215,000.
LPL Financial discharged Kenney in May 2015 based on these allegations of participating in undisclosed outside business activities, which is a violation of LPL Financial policy.
