About
Meet Matt Wilson, the force behind our firm’s relentless pursuit of justice in class action and mass tort cases. As the advocate for certified and potential classes, Matt dives headfirst into complex legal battles involving privacy breaches, federal privacy statutes such as the telephone consumer protection statute (“TCPA”) and the video privacy law (the “VPPA”), securities fraud, and deceptive advertising. Matt has successfully reached resolutions in numerous classwide cases in federal and state courts across the nation.
He has settled dozens of these cases on a classwide basis in federal and state courts through the country. Matt also has represented classes of small businesses and landowners in breach of contract cases, settling one such case recently for $32 million in cash compensation for the class members.
He stands alongside his clients in their frustration with intrusive robocalls, understanding that some of these calls cross legal boundaries. In his role as court-appointed class counsel, Matt has consistently taken on cases where unauthorized calls or text messages to cellular phones were made using automated telephone dialing systems, or artificial or prerecorded voices, in violation of the TCPA. The remarkable TCPA class settlements he has led, totaling over $300 million in cash for consumers, included some of the largest robocall settlements of their time.
Class actions are formidable legal endeavors, often requiring extensive groundwork. Matt’s expertise lies in assembling a stellar team of legal professionals, both within and outside Meyer Wilson, to maximize the effectiveness of each case. He places great value on this collaborative and consensus-building approach.
Before joining Meyer Wilson in 2006, Matt honed his legal acumen during a four-year tenure with the international law firm Jones Day, preceded by two years at Vorys, Sater, Seymour & Pease LLP. During these six years, he defended some of the world’s largest corporations in class actions, wage and hour collective actions, product liability disputes, and a wide array of complex civil litigation. Today, Matt’s commitment to justice is unwavering as he continues to champion the rights of individuals and classes affected by legal violations.
