According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), former LPL Financial LLC broker Michael Barranco (CRD# 4825738) has been suspended from working in the securities industry for two years, and was fined $20,000 for his actions.
Barranco allegedly failed to provide proper notice to his firm while participating in private securities transactions with three separate issuers between 2010 and 2015. According to FINRA, he was involved in nearly 40 private securities transactions with 27 people who invested more than $3.5 million. Most of the people involved with Barranco were customers of LPL Financial.
Without admitting or denying the findings, Barranco signed a Letter of Acceptance, Waiver and Consent consenting to FINRA’s sanctions on July 22, 2016.
Barranco was discharged from LPL Financial based out of Montgomery, AL in November of 2015 after the firm discovered the alleged transgressions. Before working there, he was employed by Raymond James Financial Services, Inc. based out of Montgomery, AL.
