According to publicly-available records, broker William David Utanski allegedly recommended the unsuitable investment in stocks and call options in a company called Dendreon Corporation in 2015. Another customer filed a similar complaint around the same time, alleging Utanski made a “one-size-fits-all” recommendation in Dendreon Corporation stock transactions, resulting in an over-concentration of the stock. Both of those claims have been settled.
Currently pending is yet another customer complaint relating to the Dendreon stock was filed in FINRA arbitration, alleging that Utanski made unsuitable recommendations in closed-end funds and Dendreon stock. As a result, the customer allegedly suffered damages of $200,000.
Utanski has been registered in the securities industry since 1995 when he started with Salomon Smith Barney, Inc. In 1999, he registered with UBS Painewebber Inc., followed by Prudential Securities Incorporated in 2001. In 2002, he registered with Ameriprise Advisor Services, Inc. Since 2009, he has been registered with Ameriprise Financial Services, Inc.
