Meyer Wilson Werning is proud to share that Layne Hilton, attorney at our firm, has been selected for inclusion in the 2027 edition of The Best Lawyers in America®. This recognition reflects the depth of Layne’s advocacy on behalf of people harmed by defective products, corporate misconduct, and widespread institutional failures.
Recognition Across Two Practice Areas in New Orleans
Each year, Best Lawyers® compiles peer-reviewed rankings of leading attorneys across the country. In its 33rd edition, Layne was honored for her outstanding work in:
- Mass Tort Litigation / Class Actions – Plaintiffs
- Product Liability Litigation – Plaintiffs
This marks Layne’s first inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America®, a distinction that reflects the respect and confidence her peers have placed in her professional abilities and contributions to the legal profession. Fewer than 3% of attorneys in private practice globally receive this recognition, making her selection a meaningful benchmark in any legal career.
Her selection is notable not only for spanning two distinct practice areas, but also for being recognized in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she has built her reputation as a tenacious advocate for clients navigating some of the most complex litigation in the country.

A Career Built on Fighting for Those Who Need It Most
Layne came to law for a straightforward reason, to advocate for people who cannot advocate for themselves. That commitment has shaped every aspect of her practice, from class action cases involving consumer protection claims to matters where individuals have suffered serious, life-altering injuries as a direct result of corporate negligence.
“Over the past several years, my practice has grown from individual plaintiff work into a broader platform that includes leadership roles in some of the most significant multi-district litigations in the country,” Layne said. “Heading into 2027, that means my clients benefit not just from dedicated one-on-one representation, but from the perspective that comes from sitting at the table where case-wide decisions are made.”
Her caseload reflects the breadth of that growth. Layne is currently representing clients in the Paraquat and Uber Sexual Assault multi-district litigations. She also serves on the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee of the In re Valsartan, Losartan, and Irbesartan Products Liability Litigation, where she co-chairs the Consumer Class Action committee and serves on the discovery committee. In addition, she is representing multiple classes of plaintiffs in data breach lawsuits in Louisiana and across the country.
For Layne, that combination of individual focus and systemic reach is not a tension to manage. It is the point. “At its core, nothing has changed about why I do this work,” she said. “Every client, whether part of a class or a single individual who has been harmed by corporate negligence, deserves the same relentless preparation and creative advocacy I bring to every matter.”
