About the 2027 Edition of Best Law Firms®
Best Law Firms® rankings are published by Best Lawyers®. To be considered, a firm must have at least one lawyer recognized in The Best Lawyers in America® for that practice area and location. Firms that qualify are then scored and placed into tiers within each practice area, which is why the recognitions below are listed by tier. Meyer Wilson Werning is grateful to the clients, colleagues and other professionals who took part in the process. You can view the firm’s recognition on its Best Law Firms profile.

The Practice Areas Recognized
Mass tort and class action cases arise when the same conduct harms many people at once, such as a defective product, a deceptive business practice or a failure to protect consumers or investors. In a mass tort, each person pursues an individual claim, though the cases are often coordinated because they share common facts. In a class action, one or more people bring a claim on behalf of a larger group. Both approaches let people who might not be able to take on a large company alone seek accountability together.
Professional malpractice is a related area of law. People rely on professionals for advice that affects their finances, businesses and futures, and when a professional falls below the standard of care expected in their field and a client is harmed as a result, that client may have the right to seek compensation. These claims often turn on what the professional did, what a reasonably careful professional would have done in the same situation and how the difference caused the loss.
Securities litigation covers disputes over investments, such as claims that an investor was misled, given unsuitable recommendations or harmed by a failure to follow industry rules. These claims can be brought in court or, in many cases involving brokerage firms and financial advisors, through FINRA arbitration. Because securities cases combine complex financial facts with detailed regulations, they typically involve a close review of account records, communications and the duties owed to the investor.
“Class action and mass tort cases are often about people who couldn’t take on a large company alone. It means a great deal to be recognized for work that lets those individuals seek accountability together.” -Matthew R. Wilson, Principal.
What This Recognition Means
For investors considering legal representation, a third-party recognition can be one helpful reference point, but it shouldn’t be the only one. Experience, communication and your comfort level with an attorney all matter, and a ranking does not guarantee any result in a particular case. Consider asking any attorney about their experience with cases like yours before you decide.
