About
Anna Brethauer is a Law Clerk at Meyer Wilson Werning, where she works primarily on investor claims. She joined the firm in May 2025 and is a Juris Doctor candidate at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, on track to graduate in May 2027.
It took Anna about two weeks to know this was the work she wanted to do. During her second week at the firm, David and Courtney brought her along to an arbitration hearing in San Francisco, and watching the team advocate for investors who had been harmed by financial misconduct settled the question for her. She returned to Columbus and withdrew every other application she had out. She describes representing investors as purposeful, consequential work done on behalf of people who deserve a skilled and committed advocate in their corner, and she cannot see herself doing anything else.
At Moritz, Anna ranks in the top 25% of her class and serves on the Managing Board of the Ohio State Law Journal as an Articles Editor, where she helps evaluate scholarly submissions and decide which articles the journal publishes. She spent her first year on the journal as a Staff Editor working directly on manuscripts. She is also a member of the Program on Law and Leadership and the Public Interest Law Foundation, two communities that have shaped her thinking about what it means to lead with purpose and to build a career around making the law work for everyone.
Anna graduated summa cum laude from Stetson University in December 2023 with a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies and a 4.0 GPA, concentrating in environmental policy and economics with minors in political science and philosophy. She received the Outstanding Senior Award from Stetson’s Department of Environmental Science and Studies and was inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa, a national leadership honor society. As a student researcher on a multi-year food waste and insecurity project, she helped build a partnership with local farmers that diverted more than 2,000 gallons of food waste into animal feed and compost.
Anna also competed for four years as a member of Stetson’s NCAA Division I women’s soccer program, serving as team captain in 2022 and 2023 and earning the Iron Hatter Award for work ethic, strength, and leadership. She balanced that commitment against a full course load and a perfect GPA, and she served as the team’s Philanthropy Partner, organizing community outreach and tutoring initiatives throughout her time there.
She has not put the running shoes away. Anna now runs with the MWW Run Club and competes alongside her colleagues in half marathons. A native of Avon, Ohio, she spends her time outside the office cooking one-pan meals, hiking, and playing fetch with her dog.
