In October 2014, Goldman Sachs was fined $40,000 after allegations of violating New York Mercantile Exchange "NYMEX" rule 526.F by "executing certain block trades that were not reported to NYMEX within the applicable time limit following execution, reporting inaccurate execution times for these block trades, and misreporting trades."

In a civil case initiated with a court action filing in April 2010, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filed securities fraud charges against Goldman Sachs and one of its employees for making misstatements and omissions. Judgment was rendered and sanctions ordered/relief granted included a monetary fine of $535 million, restitution, and a cease & desist/injunction.
